Louis de Paor
Louis de Paor was born in Cork in 1961, and lived in Australia from 1987 to 1996, where he published a number of bi-lingual titles.
His collections include Próca Solais is Luatha (Baile Átha Cliath, Coiscéim, 1988), which won the won Duais an Ríordánaigh; 30 Dán (Coiscéim, 1982); Aimsir Bhreicneach/Freckled Weather (Australia, The Leros Press, 1993), which was shortlisted for the Victorian Premier’s Award for Literary Translation; Gobán Cré is Cloch / Sentences of Earth and Shore (Melbourne, Black Pepper Press, 1996 reprint 1997), Seo, Siúd agus Uile (1996); Corcach agus Dánta Eile/Cork and Other Poems (Coiscéim, 1999/Black Pepper Press, n.d.g); Agus rud eile de (Coiscéim, 2002);and Ag Greadadh Bas sa Reilig/Clapping in the Cemetery (Gallimh, Cló Iar-Chonnachta, 2006).
He was granted a Writer’s Fellowship by the Australia Council in 1995. He is also the recipient of the Lawrence O’Shaughnessy Award 2000, the first poet in Irish to achieve that distinction.
He lives in Galway.
